VERB (क्रिया)

Verb Definition

The words that indicate the act or being of an action are called verb. These are also called an action words.

(जिन शब्दों से किसी कार्य के करने या होने का बोध होता है,उसे क्रिया कहते हैं)

 Examples

 

Drink(  ड्रिंक   ) पीना

Eat  (खाना) ,खाना

Sleep  (स्लीप)  सोना

Dig       (डीग)    खोदना

Play        (प्ले)      खेलना

Read      (रीड )      पढ़ना

Cry        (क्राई)         रोना

Study   ( स्टडी)       पढ़ना

wash      (वाश)       धोना

Run      (रन)         दौड़ना

 

Ask       (आस्क)     पूछना

Pull    (पुल्ल) खींचना

Push   (पुश)   ढकेलना

Jump।   (जम्प)  कूदना

There are 2 types of verbs

 

Transitive verb (सकर्मक क्रिया)

Intransitive verb (अकर्मक क्रिया)

 Transitive Verbs

Transitive verbs  who has one or more object  are called transitive verb.

 Example

 mohan eats mango.

(verb ‘eat’ carries object mango with it).

सकर्मक क्रिया

जब क्रिया के साथ कोई कर्म आता है तो उसे सकर्मक क्रिया कहते हैं।

हम कबड्डी खेलते है.

We are playing kabaddi

Here, the verb ‘playing’ is a transitive verb because it is accompanied by an object i.e. kabaddi.

 Intransitive Verbs

Those verbs with no objects are called intransitive verbs.

(अकर्मक क्रिया के साथ कर्म का प्रयोग नहीं  होता  और उसका परिणाम कर्ता पर पड़ता है इसमें किसी कर्म की आवश्यकता नहीं होती।)

 Example

मीना नाच रही है।  

मीना is dancing.

Here, the verb ‘dancing’ is an intransitive verb because there is no object along with verb and the result of the action ‘dancing’ goes to the doer or the subject i.e. meena.

Lets see some more examples-

1. उसने द्वार खोल  दिया है।

He has opend the gate.

 (Transitive verb)

2. वे आ गए है। 

They have come.

 ( Intransitive verb)

3. क्या तुम पढ़ोगे?

Will you read?

   (Intransitive verb)

4. क्या तुम सेब खाओगे?

Will you eat an Apple?

 ( Transitive verb)

5. हम लिख रहे हैं।

We are writing. 

  ( Intransitive verb)

6. साध्वी गिरिजाघर गए थे।  

The  Nuns went to the Church. (Transitive verb)

 

7.  क्या तुम यहाँ खेलते हो?

Do you play here?

( Intransitive verb)

8. शिक्षिका आ गई है।  

The teacher has come.

 (Intransitive verb)

9. बाग़ में सुन्दर फूल खिले हैं।

Pretty flowers are blooming in the garden.

   (Transitive verb)

10.रमा तुम्हें बुला रही है।  

Rama is calling you.

(Intransitive verb)
